Spekul is the caving club of the university of Leuven, Belgium. We have about 50 members, both students and non-students.
Caving will take you to places most other people will only ever see on television. It’s a non-competitive sport, but it challenges you both physically and mentally. Successful teamwork is essential for a safe and enjoyable trip.
Caving is a great way to get to know yourself and your team-mates. Spekul organises training and trips for all levels of cavers, starting with day trips to Belgian caves suitable for complete beginners. As you build up experience you can consider joining our international expeditions exploring unknown parts of the Earth’s crust. (We also do many other activities: camping, biking, skiing and we are known to drink the odd beer)
Interested? Want to see if caving is for you?
We have 2 info-evenings, where we'll give you plenty of information about our caving activities and we'll be glad to answer all of your questions. There'll be 2D and 3D projections of caving and related activities in Belgium, France, Spain, USA, Vietnam, ...
The info-evenings will be Wed Sept 30 @ 20h & Oct 7 @ 22h, in our club-house: Minderbroedersstraat 50, 3000 Leuven
The rope-training techniques will start Oct 7 @ 20h in the Gymnasium
